Official Tournament Rules and Entry Form

  • To participate in the 2024 JCHA Big Buck Bash Hunting Tournament, hunters must register and pay their entry fees by 6:30 pm. Thursday, October 24, 2024.
  • Official hunting dates and times: October 25 & 26, 2024, during legal hunting hours.
  • Weigh-ins will be held at the Jones County Fair Grounds, 236 South King Street, Trenton, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on the days of the tournament.
  • Hunters may hunt anywhere in North Carolina where they have a legal right to hunt. The Big Buck Bash Hunting Tournament does not provide property on which to hunt and accepts no responsibility for providing property on which to hunt.
  • Prizes may be substituted at the JCHA’s discretion.
  • No game will be taken in an illegal manner. All wildlife laws, rules, and regulations must be obeyed.
  • All legal weapons may be used, including but not limited to bow & arrow, compound bow & arrow, rifles of legal caliber, and shotguns. Snaring and bludgeoning are not permitted.
  • Game must be weighed and scored on the same day that it is taken. No carry-over game is allowed. (Day Game was shot)
  • No injection of any substance for the purpose of adding weight is allowed.
  • All deer must be properly registered and identified in accordance with NC laws, rules, and regulations when taken. Any unregistered deer will be disqualified.
  • Any person with a valid N.C. Hunting License may enter the tournament. (Exception Youth)
  • No person may win more than one daily prize and one tournament prize.
  • Deer must be field dressed, i.e., gutted with reproductive organs removed and head and hooves still attached. All deer will be cut through the breastbone to the base of the neck (Hunter will be asked to go to the back of the line if the deer is not properly dressed).
  • Each hunter will be required to sign a legally-binding statement swearing under oath that he/she killed the deer he/she is entering. Prize winners may be subject to additional verification at the discretion of the JCHA.
  • All deer will be weighed by the JCHA Big Buck Bash Hunting Tournament Weigh Master Team. Each animal will be weighed and recorded to the nearest tenth (.10) of a pound on the digital scales.
  • Only two deer (either sex) per day can be entered by a hunter.
  • All raffle prizes must be picked up by Nov. 6th.
